Construction of Pittsburgh Glass Works plant gets under way PDF Print E-mail

pgw_ground_breaking_03_s10 November 2010 saw a ceremony to begin the construction of Pittsburgh Glass Works (Poland)’s manufacturing plant in the village of Komorniki, situated within the Legnica Special Economic Zone, in the subzone of Środa Śląska.



The first ceremonial spades of dirt were turned at the building side by PGW’s CEOs, representing both the parent company and the Polish subsidiary; the US Embassy commercial counsellor, the mayor of Środa Śląska; the president of the Legnica Special Economic Zone; and a representative by the Daimler AG Group, the main customer to be supplied with products made by PGW in Komorniki.

The plant is scheduled to begin production in 2012. It plans to produce 1.2 million car window panes annually, with at least 170 employees on board. PGW Poland plans to invest at least PLN 173 m.
