zakad_marcegaglia_w_kluczborku“The most important investment in the Opole Region and one of the largest in Poland: with a total amount of 200 million euros (of which more than 100 million already used for the first step), Marcegaglia confirms its presence as a leader in the New Europe’s countries”, said CEO Antonio Marcegaglia during the opening ceremony of the second Marcegaglia manufacturing unit in Poland on October 14th in Kluczbork.

“Our passion about steel, the sharing of values such as the tenacity, the push for internationalisation and growth are expressed in this new plant that aims to confirm our leadership in tubes, strips and sheets also in emerging countries thanks to our state-of-the-art technology and our experience matured worldwide”, commented Antonio Marcegaglia.

Investments in Poland are part of Marcegaglia interntionalisation plan that involve the Italian group with 1,000 million euro investments up to 2012 of which 450 million (about 50%) in emerging countries.

“We are, me and my family, really proud in this moment. Despite the hard international economic situation, Marcegaglia has always firmly believed in its growth: between the second half of 2010 and the first half of 2011 we are opening two other new manufacturing plants in Vladimir, Russia and Yhangzou China in addition to the doubling of Garuva plant in Brazil”, explained Antonio Marcegaglia.

Marcegaglia global programme will lead the group to a total output of 7,5 million tonnes in 2013 and includes investments also in Italy, USA, UK for a total amount of 550 million euro.

More than 600 international guests attended the event: on stage with Antonio and Emma Marcegaglia, CEOs and father Steno Marcegaglia, founder and chairman: the Italian Ambassador in Poland Aldo Mantovani, the Secretary of State for Infrastructure Tadeusz Jarmuziewicz, the Senator and President of Economic Commitee Marek Waszkowiak, the former Polish Minister of Transport Jerzy Widzyk, Antoni Jastrzembski and Józef Sebesta respectively Governor and Representative of the Opole Region, Piotr Pośpiech President of the Province of Kluczbork, the Mayor of Kluczbork Jarosław Kielar, Luigi Lovaglio VicePresident of Bank Pekao (Unicredit Group) and the Bishop of Opole Andrzej Czaja who gave his blessing.
